RealD Wins Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against MasterImage 3D

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., July 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — RealD has won its patent infringement lawsuit against MasterImage 3D. The U.S. International Trade Commission, in a Final Determination issued yesterday, declared that MasterImage Horizon 3D systems infringe on RealD’s patents, and barred the infringing MasterImage systems from entering or being sold in the United States.  The determination is a resounding victory for RealD.

“RealD invented today’s modern 3D cinema technology and has invested significant resources to perfect the 3D experience.  The company is gratified that the USITC recognized RealD’s innovation,” said Michael V. Lewis, CEO and Founder.

“We are extremely pleased with the USITC’s Final Determination protecting RealD’s significant investment in our R&D and patented technology. Patents on our 3D cinema systems have been issued and validated in jurisdictions worldwide, and we are pleased that the USITC has similarly affirmed the strength of our patents,” said Vivian Yang, RealD’s Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel and Neil Mothew, RealD’s Vice President of Intellectual Property and Legal Affairs.

RealD is the 3D market leader with the most widely-adopted 3D projection technology in the industry, and it is enjoyed by moviegoers in more than 28,000 RealD-equipped theaters worldwide.
