European Equity Growth Fund goes from strength to strength
15 March 2007
Leading fund manager, Standard Life Investments today announced that Stuart Fraser, manager of the European Equity Growth Fund, has received a AA rating from Citywire. The accolade means that six of Standard Life Investments fund managers now hold either AA or AAA Citywire ratings1. In addition, seven Standard Life Investments fund managers are listed on Citywire’s Hot 100 list with two of these being amongst the top 20.
Jacqueline Kerr, Head of Mutual Fund Investments at Standard Life Investments, said:
“March is proving to be a rewarding month for our European Equity Growth Fund. Not only has Stuart Fraser received recognition from Citywire based on the management skills that have led to an excellent risk-adjusted performance for the three year period to 28 February 2007, but his fund also contributed to our recent win of the ‘Best Overall Group – Equity Large’ category at the Lipper Awards 20072.
“Both the performance and management of the fund is first class. Investors have benefited from top decile performance over 1, 3 and 6 months, 1 and 2 years and top quartile performance over 3 and 5 years3 with returns of 19.41% over the last year versus a sector average of 12.14%4. I have every confidence that this fund will continue to be an investors favourite for many years to come.
“While Standard Life Investments has long been recognised for its strong performance in UK Equities, with more than 80% of the range returning top quartile performance over 1, 2, 3 and 5 years5, it is particularly pleasing that our global products are now receiving greater recognition. This is not limited to the European Equity Growth Fund. Take our Japanese Equity Growth Fund for example, which has returned top decile performance over 1 and 3 months, 2 and 3 years or the Asia Pacific Growth Fund which has matched this performance over 1, 3 and 6 months and has been top quartile over 1 year3. These performance records reflect the skills and expertise of our fund managers across the wide spectrum of our mutual fund offering.”
1 Other Citywire ratings held by Standard Life Investments fund managers include, Harry Nimmo AAA (UK Smaller Companies), Mark Niznik AAA (UK Opportunities), Jacqueline Kerr AA (Dynamic Distribution), Karen McKellar AA (UK Equity High Income) and Lesley Duncan AA (UK Ethical).
2 Standard Life Investments qualified for both of the awards (Equity Large & UK Equity Large) based on the consistently strong risk-adjusted performance of its funds relative to their peers over the three year period up to 31st December 2006.
3 Standard & Poors Micropal, for the period to 1st March 2007
4 Standard & Poor’s Micropal, 01/03/06 – 01/03/07
5 Five year figures do not include our UK Opportunities and UK Equity Unconstrained Funds which were only launched in 2002 and 2005 respectively. The UK Opportunities Fund has performed 2nd percentile over 1, 2 and 3 years and the UK Equity Unconstrained has been 1st percentile over 1 year
