The Portsmouth University Gospel Choir, a Students’ Union society, made it into the final of BBC’s Pitch Battle after a showstopping performance on Saturday evening (8 July).
The fourth episode of the series saw some intense battles between the Portsmouth University Gospel Choir, a country guitar-playing girl choir, and four musical theatre-inspired choirs. The competition saw fierce riff-offs between the choirs. But it was the Portsmouth choir who performed their showstopping performance with guest judge Seal, singing Kiss from a Rose, that received a standing ovation from all three of the Pitch Battle judges.Nifemi Adediji, Portsmouth Gospel Choir Secretary and BA (Hons) Business and Management second year student, said: “We are a group of students passionate about using our voices.
“Being on Pitch Battle is such an amazing experience – the whole day was incredible. Singing with Seal, who’s such a legend, and who chose to sing with us was so good it’s indescribable.
“Please vote for us on 22 July!!!”
