More information

I wanted to earn a Bachelor’s degree after receiving my Diploma from my home country. I chose to come to Teesside because it is ranked in the global Top 20 animation schools. I found out about Teesside through my college, The One Academy, which has affiliations with the University, and through reading the list of good animation schools.
I had always loved animation, creating characters and stories as a child and wanted to pursue it as a career. I enjoyed learning new subjects in the course, things I hadn’t learned back in college. The course also gave us a lot of creative flexibility when it came to our ideas. I enjoyed the animation and short film modules because I got to create stories and animate them.
The campus is well situated near the town centre and all the buildings are within walking distance, which was very convenient. The careers service was very helpful in giving us advice and tips for CVs, interviews and such. The library is very well equipped for all subjects. It came in handy as I had to research topics outside of my course subject for my final year project.

I won the “TechComm Award” at ExpoTalent 2016 in my 2nd year and the “Character Animation Award” at ExpoTees 2017 in my 3rd year. I was really surprised and pleased to have won these awards because it meant that my work was valued and recognised. The “Character Animation Award” was a big confidence booster because I knew there were so many other good works shown at ExpoTees.
It will definitely look good on my CV.

The facilities for my course are of a high standard and you get to experience different areas of the industry. Plus, networking events like Animex and ExpoTees are really helping us get to know people in the business. I hope to become a 3D Character Animator after I graduate. I think the course has helped polish my skills as an animator and it gave me more work to put in my portfolio.
