Kicking It With Kirk Podcast – The World Is Not Prepared

DALLAS, TX, December 28, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — Kirk Word, celebrated local real-estate specialist and golf enthusiast has officially launched his podcast series “Kicking It With Kirk” on iTunes and Google Play. Featuring local celebrities and like minded golf cart aficionados, each podcast will be a deep dive into the world of custom golf carts, Kirk Word stories of wild times past, and whatever happens, happens.

Episode one introduces Kirk Word and his producer Sam Bohon as they gear up for American Carts, their unscripted reality television show now in production in North Texas. They discuss the trials and tribulations of the custom golf cart world, what it takes to rig a golf cart race (size does matter), and a speed dating round of questions to learn just how deep the rabbit hole goes in Kirk’s mind.

“This started as just a crazy idea, we wanted to put together a program to reach out to everyone who loves to have fun, loves the idea of getting in a golf cart and just cutting loose. I had no idea how big the community was, and honestly, I’ve been really impressed at the positive response we’ve been getting,” Kirk Word commented as they prepared to interview yet another local shop. “We have a tremendous opportunity to bring everyone together through their love of these carts, and we can’t wait to get started.”

Kirk Word was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and has lived there all but a few years of his life. Relocations to Austin, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada were brief because of his attraction and the comfort he feels in the north Texas area with friends and a family with local roots that run five generations deep. When relocating to a golf course community in 2015, Kirk purchased some vintage golf carts to restore and drive around the neighborhood. The golf cart projects soon resembled the typical full-bore over-the-top pursuit with his trademark outrageous perspective. Soon after, American Carts was born.

As a precursor to American Carts, Kicking It With Kirk gives the public a chance to hear the completely unfiltered wisdom and tales of this North Texas native deep in his element. “Is it politically correct? Hardly. Is it a great way to get a few laughs, kick back and listen to the weird, twisted mind of yours truly? Heck yes.” Kirk concludes.

Kicking it with Kirk Word is a weekly podcast released via SoundCloud, iTunes, Google Play, Slacker, and TuneIn. Featuring local celebrities, custom golf cart experts and fans, we dive deep into this growing fan base and unwind with the always affable Kirk Word and stories of his past and future adventures.

GAINESVILLE, FL, August 28, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — September is National Recovery Month and celebrates the gains made by those in recovery, just as we celebrate health improvements made by those who are managing other health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and heart disease. The observance reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.

Active For Recovery was originally founded as Get Leveled Up by AJ Tatum in April 2014. The goal of Get Leveled Up was to share AJ’s experiences of drug and food addictions, mental illnesses, and the journey to breakthrough those obstacles and learn how to thrive. However, something larger needed to be done, so AJ did an experiment. He believed that more should be done to raise awareness of addiction and show that recovery is possible and wanted to help eliminate the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery. So, he started an event called Biking Thru Addiction which took place on September 19, 2015 to see if he could gather enough support from the community. The event was deemed a success and that’s when was born

VIKTRE (“vik’tr’ee”), the content publishing platform and online community exclusively for elite athletes, has expanded its athlete roster with Ian Poulter.

Ian kicks off an 8-part video series on VIKTRE “The Real Ian Poulter – A Look Inside” which gives fans an exclusive look into Ian Poulter’s life, his love of cars, his passion for Arsenal FC, his journey into golf, and his support for his charity Dreamflight.

VIKTRE is the perfect complement to what I am already doing on social media. My partnership with VIKTRE makes it easier for me to control my brand and tell my stories.

Ian Poulter,
Professional PGA Golfer

The first feature in this series is Dreamflight

Ian joins the one thousand athletes already on VIKTRE, who control their brand and tell their stories in their own voice on the VIKTRE platform.  More than just a place for athletes to post, VIKTRE is unique in that it celebrates the entire life of the athlete, whether it is about sport, entertainment, business, or food.  Serving professional, Olympic, and national team athletes, current or former, VIKTRE brings together athlete stories from around the world.

“VIKTRE is the perfect complement to what I am already doing on social media.  My partnership with VIKTRE makes it easier for me to control my brand and tell my stories,” says Ian Poulter Professional PGA Golfer. “VIKTRE is a platform where I can talk about my love of cars, my charities and of course golf.  What I’m most excited about, however, is that VIKTRE gives me a platform that easily connects me to athletes from different sports all over the world.”  Poulter went on to say, “We just got back from The Rubens Barrichello VIKTRE Invitational where F1 Legend Rubens Barrichello put me and other athletes through our paces on the karting track.  It was awesome!”

Recognizing that athletes are among the most influential people on social media, VIKTRE makes it easy for athletes to own their brand, develop and share original content with their fans, and share in advertising revenue, regardless of what stage of career they are in.  “It’s an exciting time here at VIKTRE for our athlete partners and their fans,” says Al Steele, VIKTRE Founder and CEO. “Having Ian Poulter join the VIKTRE team is fantastic – there are few golfers in the world who understand the power of social media in the way he does.”  He already has a strong following globally, and on, Ian’s fans can find exclusive, insider style stories, delivered in his own words. We are super excited to partner with him.”

In addition to providing an online publishing platform, VIKTRE also offers a private online community for athletes.  This unique platform focuses on the athlete’s life from his or her days navigating the professional world of sport, to the transition period right after sport, and to the realities of a life post retirement.  For example, Don Davey’s series on VIKTRE called the “The Franchise with Don Davey” takes a behind the scenes look at how Don takes lessons from the Packers’ playbook into the business world.  Al Steele went on to say “Where else can you hear NHL legend Bernie Nichols talk about how he met Tom Hanks while playing for the LA Kings, or get an inside look into the life of George Hincapie, his hotel, his family and his brand? VIKTRE delivers these stories in a truly authentic way – straight from the athletes themselves.”

Yasser Bahjatt Presents "Can Science Fiction Stimulate Scientific Innovation in the Middle East' in Austin

One Man’s Crusade to Bring Sci-fi and Inspire Scientific and Technological Innovation in the Arab World

Hosted by GlobalAustin in partnership with the University of Texas Club, The Capital Factory, Malvern Books, and organized by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, author Yasser Bahjatt will explore the social and creative role of science fiction in the Arab World and its potential to transform at three talks in Austin, Texas.

Drawing on his background in technology, his experiences developing a creative engine for science fiction in Saudi Arabia and his own writings, Bahjatt’s talk “Legend of the Imaginary: Science Fiction as the Starting Point for Reality” explores his theory that no technological advance in the last 200 years was born of an original thought, but that all new technology can be traced to its inception in a science fiction novel.

The talk will occur on:

  • December 8, 11:30am-1:30pm, University of Texas Club, free.
  • December 9, 10:00am-12:00pm, The Capital Factory, free.

Founder of the trailblazing League of Arabic SciFiers and author, Bahjatt will also read from his 2015 novel Yaqteenya: The Old World, which posits an alternate history for Arabian society. In this novel, the world of Yaqteenya is facing its first civil war. Young Al-Baz must risk breaking the law to leave home and search for answers that will reveal truths that the rulers of the land have been keeping well hidden to save his world from a disastrous future.

The reading will be held on:

  • December 8, 7:00pm-9:00pm, Malvern Books, free.

Bahjatt has been on the forefront of promoting science fiction in the Arab World. His support of science fiction has created the League of Arabic SciFi-ers (Yatakhayaloon) and a local publishing house dedicated to printing and supplying Arabic-language science fiction novels to the Middle East where science fiction is rare.

But this lack of pervasiveness is not due to lack of demand; Bahjatt’s first co-authored novel HWJN soared to the top of the Saudi bestseller list and remained there for several months, despite being banned in neighboring Kuwait and Bahrain. By increasing accessibility to science fiction – a genre renowned for its reconstruction of societal norms and limits, Bahjatt hopes to create space for imagination, in a region where it’s often suppressed. Bahjatt also purports that by promoting science fiction, there will be an imagination of the realm of possibility in the sciences, inspiring new scientific and technological innovations.

Yasser Bahjatt is also a translator, software developer, and entrepreneur. Bahjatt manages business development at Quad Dimensions Tech, and has a background in the gaming industry.- Bahjatt’s dedication to sharing technological and scientific innovation led him to be the first to translate TED talks into Arabic; he is now a translator at TED conferences worldwide. He holds a B.A. in Computer Engineering, certificate-holder from Cambridge University’s MOSAIC leadership and management program in the United Kingdom. He was the first Saudi graduate of Singularity University (SU) in Silicon Valley, CA, where he founded Matternet, a project that aims to alleviate poverty and accelerate growth through roadless transportation networks.

Bahjatt will also appear in Kansas City, MO and San Francisco, CA as part of his U.S. tour.
