OCEANAIR Joins the Fight Against Breast Cancer

OCEANAIR raises awareness for breast cancer with Survivors by the Sea.

SBTS Bench on Deer Island

REVERE, Mass.Nov. 10, 2017PRLog — OCEANAIR, a leading provider of international transportation logistics, teamed up in October with Survivors by the Sea (SBTS) for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. OCEANAIR’s employees showed their support for this cause and wonderful non-profit (501(c)3) in Winthrop, Massachusetts by using a unique icon with both organizations’ logos for OCEANAIR’s email signatures and a special letterhead for other correspondence. The ownership of OCEANAIR has supported this charity for years on an individual basis, but the company will donate this year as well. OCEANAIR’s relationship with SBTS began through a personal connection from Mr. Joe Wyson, Executive Vice President, who is also an owner of the company.

In 2006, a small group of cancer patients/survivors in Winthrop founded SBTS after a Winthrop resident opened her home to the first gathering. Mr. Wyson’s wife was part of this group, which formed an immediate bond. The participants wanted to continue to meet and decided the best name for the group was Survivors by the Sea because of the group’s home base in Winthrop. The organization has no overhead or administrative salaries; all donations are used for outreach.  Based on individual circumstances, outreach can include but is not limited to visits/phone calls, Survivor bags, meals/groceries, house cleaning and holistic therapies. Today, the organization supports over 160 members in 8 states and its mission remains unchanged – “We Take Care of Our Own and Pay It Forward.”

Not only has the mission not changed, but also the format remains the same. The group does not have a formal agenda and is open to cancer warriors, caregivers, and survivors. Each member has a plethora of experience “to provide one another with support, information, encouragement, laughter, motivation, and hugs in whatever order they are needed,” said Karen Leslie, Treasurer of SBTS. The camaraderie seen among the Survivors reflects the bond which the core group created many years ago. One of the most heartwarming and supportive activities SBTS has is an “Hasta La Chemo Party,” where the group meets to celebrate a member who has completed his/her chemotherapy treatment.

SBTS members also honor those they have lost by gathering for a moving ceremony at Deer Island.  On Deer Island, there is the SBTS bench, which was a gift from the Marie C. Petrilli Foundation, and is located overlooking the Boston Skyline. During this moving ceremony, a family member or another SBTS member attaches a tiny bell to the bench in memory of the deceased.

The Marie C. Petrilli Foundation was the group’s first benefactor.  In addition to this support, the group has fundraised through walk/run events and receives donations from planned gifts and memorial bequeaths. Another resource for SBTS is corporate involvement, so it is not uncommon for this organization to expand its relationship with OCEANAIR. OCEANAIR is proud to support the Survivors by the Sea because the company’s ownership and employees proactively engage in philanthropic yxfbj activities so that they can have a role in developing prosperous and cohesive communities locally and worldwide through the contribution of their time, treasure, and talent.

Hänel Offers Significant Upgrade for Automotive Dealer Management Systems

Hnel Storage Systems of Pittsburgh, PA, USA has released an upgraded version of its MP-Link software application, enabling auto dealerships to seamlessly integrate their DMS with vertical storage unit software.

Pittsburgh, PA, November 15, 2017 –(PR.com)– Hänel Storage Systems, a leader in the manufacture and integration of automated vertical storage units, is proud to announce MP-Link 2.0, a significantly upgraded automotive inventory software application that allows car, truck and motorcycle dealerships to improve the productivity and accuracy of their parts departments.

MP-Link 2.0 works in conjunction with a dealership’s existing Dealer Management System (DMS) and Hänel’s vertical storage units. It provides a single web interface for all inventory reporting and dashboard activity, including on-hand inventory searches, transactions and pick ticket status. MP-Link 2.0 also provides the total value of stored inventory and can easily export any information to PDF or Excel. Most notably, it incorporates the latest data exchange guidelines.

DMS integrates the various functions of an automotive dealership, such as sales, service, leasing and parts, and streamlines processes and information across the entire organization. The software measures, reports and controls quantifiable, real-time information shared by multiple departments within the dealership, and allows it to flow from one department to another for the purposes of consolidating effort, eliminating duplication and reducing the opportunity for human error. Dealerships can track orders from the parts department to sales to accounting and back, without duplicate entries. MP-Link 2.0 integrates seamlessly with DMS vendors CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds and Dealertrack Technologies.

Hänel also offers a direct interface with other DMS vendors such as Procede, Auto/Mate and DSI through its standard software.

The original version of MP-Link was coded in 2007, with the initial goal of integrating with ADP and Reynolds & Reynolds DMS software. There have been many improvements in web browser technology over the past ten years, including more streamlined application programming interfaces (API) to communicate with higher-level DMS software. Also, data can be much more easily exported using tool sets.

Hänel vertical storage units, such as the Rotomat® vertical carousel, can be utilized by dealerships to drastically reduce the amount of floor space needed for storage. This space management enables a dealership to reclaim up to 80 percent of their available floor space, without the costs associated with new construction. Dealerships can then re-purpose the areas formerly dedicated to storage in a revenue-generating capacity, such as adding more service bays.

When coupled with Hänel vertical storage units, MP-Link 2.0 gives DMS software visibility over all inventory stocked at a dealership. This integration takes the existing capabilities of the DMS to the next level.

About Hänel Storage Systems
Founded in Germany in 1953, Hänel’s North American headquarters has been located in Pittsburgh, PA since it was established in 1984. Hänel Storage Systems specializes in the design and engineering of Rotomat® vertical storage carousels and Lean-Lift® Vertical Lift Modules for a wide range of industries and applications. Hänel provides sales, service and technical support to North and South America through a network of factory-trained channel partners and service providers.

Introduced in 1957, the Rotomat® Vertical Carousel is based on the Ferris Wheel principal. Inventory is stored in a series of carriers that rotate within an enclosed unit and are accessed at a single opening. This vertical “goods to the user” concept improves productivity, lowers costs, increases security and saves valuable floor space.

Introduced in 1994, the Lean-Lift® Vertical Lift Module stores inventory on trays that are automatically measured for height each time they enter the unit. A vertical extractor places each tray within the unit in a location that maximizes available storage space. Trays can be equipped with dividers, totes, bins and specialized holders to store any type of inventory.

Sound Auto Wholesalers Acquires Property in Branford, CT for Second Location

Branford, CT, November 13, 2017 –(PR.com)– Sound Auto Wholesalers has acquired the property at 139 West Main St in Branford, CT for use as a second location. The company’s first location is at 14 Frontage Road in East Haven, CT. The business was established in 2014 by Daniel Merriam.

The dealership will operate from both locations. The service department and administrative/sales offices will relocate to the new location in Branford.

“The new location will allow us to have first class sales and reception areas for our customers. We will also be tripling the size of our service facility to allow up to take care of the ongoing service needs of our customers. We will also be expanding our inventory from approximately 125 cars to over 200.”

With construction slatted to start soon it is anticipated that the new facility will be ready to open in April 2018.

Dan Merriam is the grandson of the late Samuel G. Merriam who founded Merriam Motors in 1948. His father Larry Merriam is the founder of Key Auto Group. Daniel is a lifelong resident of Branford and is a graduate of Branford High School.
